YEP Works – Turning Experience Into Opportunity
Our YEP Works participants are gaining exposure to unique career opportunities in the sports industry thanks to the New Orleans Sports Foundation, The X Games, Trinity Episcopal Church, and Perlis Clothing.
As part of this experience, YEP Works participants received an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at The X Games, including the floor plans, venue build-out, and event logistics. They also had the opportunity to participate in one-on-one conversations with X Games League athletes Chad Kagy and Anthony Napolitan, gaining firsthand insight into careers both on and beyond the competition floor.
YEP Works participant and intern Analy was selected for a three-week internship at Perlis Clothing, gaining valuable real-world experience at the family owned retail business’s Magazine Street location. During the internship, Analy worked on the sales floor, assisted with inventory, and gained exposure to back-office operations, building on the skills she developed through YEP Works’ training and hands-on experience at the YEP Bike Works. This new partnership was made possible through the network of Trinity Episcopal Church, whose
members helped connect YEP with Perlis Clothing and create an opportunity for YEP young adults to gain meaningful work experience and explore new career pathways.
Experiences like these help young people connect their interests to real career possibilities and begin identifying their next steps. Through its investment in job readiness, YEP Works helps participants build the skills, confidence, and professional connections needed to pursue meaningful careers, continue their education, and work toward greater economic self-sufficiency. For our city's youth, these opportunities are more than a day of exploration. They are steps toward brighter futures.
