Eliza grew up in New Orleans, and graduated from Eleanor McMain High School. She attended Vanderbilt University, where she received a Bachelors in American and Southern Studies. After graduating, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she spent 9 years doing political communications and strategy for groups such as MoveOn.org and Democracy for America. She returned home to New Orleans in 2011 to use the skills she learned in Washington to help strengthen the city.

70 percent of YEP’s staff members are born and raised in New Orleans and the vast majority grew up in the same neighborhoods that our youth live in. Our staff members’ personal understanding of the challenges that our young people face make them uniquely qualified to provide support to YEP youth.
