Alberta is originally from Boston, MA and earned her B.A. in Art History and Human Rights from Barnard College. From 2010-2014, she taught in New Orleans public high schools where art and digital media education was severely lacking, and not preparing youth to compete for the growing tech job market in their city.
In 2014, she started Young Creative Agency, a youth design studio where teens are paid a fair wage to do real client work for local and national companies under the mentorship of experienced design professionals. YCA was a finalist in the national TFA Social Innovation Award, Propeller Start-up Accelerator fellow in 2015 and won first prize at PitchNOLA:Community Solutions.
After a successful one-year partnership with Youth Empowerment Project, Alberta is now running the studio on staff, full-time as Creative Digital Media Manager at the Work & Learn Center.
