Willie is a New Orleans native. He attended Walter L Cohen Senior High School. After graduating from Walter L Cohen, he continued his education at Xavier University of New Orleans. In 1998 Willie graduated with a degree in Social Studies Education / Secondary Ed. For 9 years he has taught in the public school system. Besides working as an educator, Willie is also very active in the community.
70 percent of YEP’s staff members are born and raised in New Orleans and the vast majority grew up in the same neighborhoods that our youth live in. Our staff members’ personal understanding of the challenges that our young people face make them uniquely qualified to provide support to YEP youth.
