Renell was born and raised in the B.W. Cooper Housing Development in New Orleans. Prior to joining YEP in 2005, Renell spent years mentoring neighborhood youth and connecting them with educational and employment opportunities. Renell brings a breadth of personal experience to his work and has a unique ability to understand the struggles that our clients face and help them to make positive life choices.
70 percent of YEP’s staff members are born and raised in New Orleans and the vast majority grew up in the same neighborhoods that our youth live in. Our staff members’ personal understanding of the challenges that our young people face make them uniquely qualified to provide support to YEP youth.
